This region is home to numerous ethnic groups, though they do not constitute a large proportion of the total population. Examples of ethnic groups residing in eastern Peru include the Shipibo, Urarina, Cocama, and Aguaruna. There is no special law for ethnic groups or reserves; they are Peruvians and legally treated as such.

The efficacy of AMIGAS may also be partly attributable to inclusion of Latina women and integration of Latina cultural values in all facets of the study, from the conceptualization, adaptation, and implementation of the intervention to the recruitment and retention of participants and study evaluation. The adaptation process remained faithful to the underlying theories and core elements of the original SiSTA intervention.
Here we take a look at a handful of the inspiring Latinas who have made history, shaped the society we live in, and changed our world for the better. In terms of extending health coverage, Hispanics benefited the most among U.S. ethnic groups from the Affordable Care Act ; among non-elderly Hispanics, the uninsured rate declined from 26.7% in 2013 to 14.2% in 2017. We asked survey respondents about their awareness of the term Latinx and their views of the term. The sample includes 2,094 Hispanic adults who were members of Pew Research Center’s American Trends Panel , an online survey panel that is recruited through national, random sampling of residential addresses. It also includes an oversample of 936 respondents sampled from Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel, another online survey panel also recruited through national, random sampling of residential addresses.
